Release journal

An interface evolves, but users do not always know what changed. We prepare a clear release journal for the people who actually need to read it.

A clear scope, before we begin.

A home for update notes

The need before
the solution.

Technical notes and useful reader information serve different purposes. A fix, a new feature and an expected action should be distinguished without artificially inflating the significance of a release.

The pilot covers two releases and ten entries in total. We define a format, categories and agreed public or restricted visibility. Approved copy is integrated into a browsable space with a procedure for publishing the next release.

INTERACTIVE EXAMPLE — FICTIONAL DATA, NOT CUSTOMER SOFTWARE.

Edition A

Useful changes are grouped in a first fictional edition.

01

An update told from the reader’s perspective

01

What changed

A sentence describes the feature or fix actually introduced.

02

What it means

Readers understand whether their use or habits are affected.

03

What to do

An action is stated only when it is genuinely necessary.

02

Three categories, three different messages

New

An added capability is not confused with a purely visual improvement.

Adjusted

A changed existing behaviour is explained with relevant context.

Fixed

A correction describes the issue addressed without promising absolute reliability.

THE HANDOVER

What takes shape.

  • 01One release-note template
  • 02Up to two releases and ten entries
  • 03A classification of change types
  • 04A publishing procedure
ILLUSTRATIVE SITUATION, NOT A CUSTOMER CASE

Illustrative scenario: an internal tool announces a new export and explains the required action. Demonstration releases are not real deliveries.

Explicit boundaries.

One journal and one language. Software delivery, incident monitoring, marketing announcements and exhaustive historical migration are excluded. Third-party tools and ongoing publication management must be agreed separately.

What we prepare together

  • ↗Changes genuinely delivered
  • ↗The intended audience and visibility
  • ↗An editorial approval owner

Before getting started.

Can earlier releases be added?

Yes, where changes are documented and approved. The package covers two releases; a larger historical import needs a separate quote.

Must the journal be public?

No. Audience and access arrangements are defined before implementation; restricted access may require a third-party tool.

THE NEXT STEP

A project to clarify?
Let’s put it in perspective.

A few details are enough to start a useful conversation. No payment or commitment through the form.
